Heads up re an experiment!

Hi folks - just a quick heads up that I am going to conduct an experiment. We have not had the capacity to communicate quickly through the Groups process with (a) everyone who has registered for The Drum Beat and Soul Beat e-magasines combined (53,000 people approx) and (b) likewise for those subscribed to Son de Tambora (40,000 approx). If we could get these processes to work they would complement and support the 3 major e-magasines (though at present Soul Beat is in abeyance of course). The server capacity required to process communications to that many people has just been too large. Though we have added some items sent to the niche networks to the overall Drum Beat network. But there have been some load changes at the server level. So, I am going to send a quick note to The Drum Beat network space - 53,830 people  By design it will be short. The focus will be the English version of the ongoing survey. If it works you will see the message. If it does not you will not! We can then work with Juana and Adelaida for the same test in Spanish to the Son de Tambora network. Thanks - will keep you updated - Warren

Hi - this did not work - 53,000 is too many people. But given how long and based on the time for other the process took I sense that we were close. In general the 53,000 is the 46,000 for DB and 18,000 for SB (so all subscribers to a magasine in Engklish) with an 11,000 overlap. (NB - even when combined with the SdT number of 42,000 approx this is not everyone who has joined the network as some register but do not subscribe to an e-mag.)

I am going to have one more try here. Will include only people who subscribed to The Drum Beat (46,000 approx). Lets see what happens! If this does work then will set up separate Soul Beat and Son de Tambora networks.

Best - Warren
